In 2018, Humanities Commons honored one of the most time-honored traditions of the season: summer camp. We hosted a virtual summer camp for users old and new. It helped participants to update, build, and achieve an outstanding digital presence through HC. Please check out the discussions from Summer 2018 to see the fantastic work and thought-provoking conversations that our participants took part in last year.

In 2019, we hosted two Humanities Commons Summer Refresh Workshops. These events encouraged you to set aside time to update your digital presence on HC. The group is a space to ask questions, connect with other users, and see the various exciting ways that other scholars use HC to build their presence online.

You can use these materials as you update your presence on the Commons.

      Hello, everyone!

This summer, the HC team is hosting Humanities Commons’ Summer Refresh Workshop online. While it will be similar to last year’s HC Summer Camp, Humanities Commons’ Summer Refresh Workshop will last just one week and will be held twice during the summer: once in July and a second time in August. Additionally, Humanities Commons’ Summer Refresh Workshop is designed primarily for users who could benefit from having a short period of time set aside to refresh and revamp their HC presence. That being said, new users might also find the workshop helpful.

I wanted to reach out to last year’s HC Summer Camp participants about this workshop before it goes public because the HC team would love to have some of you serve as mentors during the workshop. As a workshop mentor, you would commit to joining me in facilitating discussion, providing advice, and/or sharing your own work on this group page during one day of the workshop. While this mentorship role is low commitment (you’ll basically just agree to participate in the group discussions for one day), it can also be a great addition to your CV!

Please respond here or DM me by Wednesday, July 3rd if you’re interested in being a mentor for any of the dates and topics below:

      • Monday, July 8th: Profiles
      • Tuesday, July 9th: Groups
      • Wednesday, July 10th: CORE
      • Thursday, July 11th: Sites

We will also host this workshop a second time in August. I will post here again when we are closer to the date to ask for volunteer mentors for the August deployment of Humanities Commons’ Summer Refresh Workshop.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you all have a refreshing summer!

      Best,

      Caitlin
